Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil, for the pan
Method
- Mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt, then stir in the milk and 1 tablespoon oil to make a soft, sticky dough.
- Cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Stir the brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts together for the filling.
- With oiled hands, divide the dough into 8 balls, flatten each, spoon in a heaping tablespoon of filling and pinch it closed.
- Fry seam side down in an oiled skillet over medium heat for 1 minute, flip and press flat with a spatula, then cook 2 minutes per side until golden.
- Let them cool a couple of minutes before biting in; the filling is very hot.
Notes
Warm the milk only to about 110°F so it does not harm the yeast.
